Microblog: Why Public School Is Less Than Ideal

Watch the clip here. Watch the full interview here. Wellness is not just about nutrition. Wellness is about getting the body and mind right. Starting with the way we fuel our body is always priority number one. 💤You can get all the sleep in the world but if your diet is lack-luster, you won't heal as much. (Same goes with light and all the other biohacking things). 🧠What we feed our minds is also a big priority. 📚I had the pleasure of sitting down with one of the Acton Academy founders @mattbeaudreau, a student-led education system. 🔎Part of the reason we had turmoil during the pandemic (IMO) is that we somehow stopped thinking for ourselves. 💊This frankly holds true with the medical system and how we think medicating is better than finding root cause. 🌾Or how...

Microblog: Boz Ratio: Therapeutic Keto

Watch the clip here. Watch the full interview here. The Boz ratio is an easy way to find your GKI. 📈The glucose ketone index (GKI) is a single number that helps you monitor your metabolic health. 📉The GKI gives you the relationship between your ketone levels and your glucose levels. 💡It gives you a sense of what your glucose and ketones are doing, and in turn what insulin is likely doing. 📊The Boz ratio helps you do the math easily.—📺 Full interview on YouTube with @drboz_annettebosworthmd: https://youtu.be/NCbRzsMijMs 🎙Full interview on podcast: https://nutritionwithjudy.buzzsprout.com/1848795/11116390-real-life-keto-how-to-lower-insulin-resistance-long-term-dr-annette-bosworth-dr-boz ...

Microblog: Weight Loss with High Fat Keto

Watch the clip here. Watch the full interview here. We hear a lot about how eating only lean meats will get you weight loss. 🤷🏻‍♀️Sure, because the caloric intake is incredibly low. ⚠️But you risk hormone function, especially steroid hormones (hormones derived from cholesterol). 💊Now you can always take exogenous hormones (which comes with risks and is not my preferred recommended method). 🍃Now even plants and fibrous plants turn into short chain FATTY ACIDS. But you don’t get much fat or any kind with only lean meats. ⭐️If you want to lose weight in a more sustainable way and a therapeutic long term way, being in a ketogenic state is ideal. ◼️If you always end up back at square one with diet experimentations and new diet flavors of the month— it’s not working. 🚩And if diet...

Microblog: Fungus and Mold

None of these foods are ideal to eat on any human diet. Let’s talk specifically about peanuts as many people ask me about the coveted peanut butter. I rarely give my kids peanut butter because it’s less than ideal for the human body. 📖Excerpt from @CarnivoreCure: “Peanuts are low on the FODMAP list, meaning they are permitted, but peanuts are not ideal for human consumption. Peanuts contain lectins, which can contribute to autoimmune and digestive problems, as well as leaky gut syndrome. 🥜Peanuts also contain oxalates and phytic acid, another antinutrient that also binds to nutrients. ❓If these nutrient-dense plant-based foods bind to nutrients so that the body cannot absorb them, what benefit do you realize by consuming nutrient-rich, but absorption-poor foods? 🦠Peanuts contain aspergillus mold, called aflatoxins, and...

Microblog: Mold in Crawl Spaces and Basements

Watch the clip here. Watch the full interview here. Many of my clients have basements and live in refinished basements. 🐻I grew up in southern California and now live in central Texas. I didn’t realize basements and crawl spaces are very common. ⚠️It’s one of the biggest risk places for mold. Some of the risk estimates I’ve heard for crawl spaces and basements is about 95%. 🦠And unfortunately, even with closing doors and never entering the basement, the broken down mold (dried up mold spores), can still travel via central air. There are many examples. 💡If you have a basement or crawl space and notice you feel worse in the home you live in now— especially after a water leak event, you may be suffering from mold exposure. ⛑ If you feel fine, don’t worry...

Microblog: Autoimmune Healing and Carnivore

Watch the clip here. Watch the full interview here. Autoimmune illness of all kinds is an immune response by the body against its own cells or tissues. 🥀At it’s simplest form, autoimmune illness is where the immune system confuses the body as a foe. 🔪The immune cells target the body’s own healthy tissues (by mistake) and signal the body to attack. 🦠A lot of the triggers are foreign proteins that the body rightfully tries to protect our bodies from. 🛡It’s why people suffering with autoimmune should reduce proteins in foods that are less than ideal for the body. 📌Gluten📌Nightshades📌Some dairy📌Foods high in lectins 🔥These foods have higher risks of autoimmune reactions and flares. PMID: 25599185 💡And by the way, even psoriasis and eczema are considered autoimmune illnesses. ❓Instead of figuring out which vegetables or fruits are safe...

Microblog: Are We Supposed to Eat Lean Animals?

Watch the clip here. Watch the full interview here. In so many cultures, fat is the prized food. 💡If we have limited access to carbs (or we’re limiting carbs for healing), then we need whole food, animal fats. 🥛Getting most of your fat from heavy cream isn’t ideal. I haven’t seen many of my clients thrive with the majority of fat coming from dairy (sorry). 🥩But eating fatty ribeyes, pork belly and bone marrow is ideal. Fat doesn’t make you fat. Insulin resistance (hyperinsulinemia) and excess energy do. 🐓Eating lean proteins will help you lose weight because you’re consuming very few calories. But it’s not sustainable long-term or ideal for optimal health. 💡If you can’t eat the way you are until 100 or if you don’t enjoy the way you’re eating, it won’t last long. When you...

Microblog: Raw vs Cooked Meats

Some people like eat raw. That’s fine as long as you don’t get sick. 🎙On CATG episode 72, we talked about raw vs. cooked meat. And we talked these facts: 🥩In 1906, polar explorer Vilhjalmur Stefansson found that for the Copper Inuit cooked nightly and that meat was always well cooked. 🍳In 1998, Bulgarian scientists did a study to find out how much protein is absorbed from eating raw eggs verses cooked eggs. 🍳The results showed that participants who ate cooked eggs digested 91-94% of the protein. 🥚Participants who ate raw eggs digested about 65% of protein from the eggs. 🌟Just cooking eggs, participants digested an additional 30% more protein from eggs than participants who ate them raw. 📖There was a study in 1987 on Heated vs Raw Protein Digestion. 🔎Researchers tested the degradation...
