Microblog: How Food Is Nutrition and Fuel

Watch the clip here.   Watch the full interview here.   A calorie may be a calorie if we’re simply trying to survive another day.   ⚠️But if we want optimal health, the type of calorie matters. A twinkie is not the same nutrition as steak.   💡Even if we should “live a little” and be okay with sugar, we are replacing nutrient-dense foods for nutrient-poor foods. It’s not just that sugar is addictive and nutrient-poor, it replaces nutrient-dense foods.   🦠And if you have gut imbalances, you have a higher risk of not absorbing nutrients. So each bite’s nutrient-density matters (timing and frequency, too).   👦🏻When parents ask if my children are on a medical dietary plan as they mostly eat meat, the short answer is no.   ❓Why is eating mostly meat not the norm?   🥩If we know all food...

Microblog: Protein Needs on Carnivore

Watch the clip here.   Watch the full interview here.   How much to eat on a carnivore diet to support thyroid and hormone health.   This was one of the most requested videos and I made a free handout that goes along with it.   I discuss the following: 🥩How food is nutrition and fuel 🥩Calories (by age) 🥩Protein needs (in grams) 🥩Body weight (BMI) 🥩Fat-to-protein ratios 🥩Sample foods and meals (why context matters with percentages) 🥩Why fat AND protein (and sufficient calories) all matter 🥩Thoughts on HRTs   — 📺 Full video on YouTube. https://youtu.be/zsyhfEskuUo   🎙Full interview on podcast: https://nutritionwithjudy.buzzsprout.com/1848795/12141717-213-how-much-to-eat-on-a-carnivore-diet-for-hormones-and-thyroid-macros-calories-protein-fats...

Microblog: High Fat and Low Protein Carnivore

Watch the clip here.   Watch the full interview here.   High fat, low protein carnivore is dangerous for maintaining lean body mass.   As Dr. Donald Layman says, protein is the only macronutrient that has a fixed number that should be consumed daily.   And if you’re eating fatty meats, the fat for essentially fatty acids and hormones will naturally come along for the ride.   — 📺 Full interview with @shawnbaker1967 on YouTube. https://youtu.be/dw5zKYKrpQw   🎙Full interview on podcast: https://nutritionwithjudy.buzzsprout.com/1848795/12076535-212-the-latest-and-greatest-about-the-carnivore-diet-in-2023-dr-shawn-baker...

Microblog: Anti-Meat Propaganda

Watch the clip here.   Watch the full interview here.   The anti-meat propaganda is being forced on us. Why?   Anemia (a lack of iron, mostly alleviated with meat) is still rampant around the world and no, crickets won’t fix this issue.   If we need meat for optimal health, why are we being told to stop eating it?   — 📺 Full interview with @shawnbaker1967 on YouTube. https://youtu.be/dw5zKYKrpQw   🎙Full interview on podcast: https://nutritionwithjudy.buzzsprout.com/1848795/12076535-212-the-latest-and-greatest-about-the-carnivore-diet-in-2023-dr-shawn-baker...

Microblog: Carcinogens in the Environment

Watch the clip here.   Watch the full interview here.   Controversial but I’d say it’s a waste to focus on carcinogenic things in the environment when the bigger evil is glucose.   Change the diet first, then slowly focus on the balance of carcinogenic items.   I don’t fear using occasional BPA plastic when my diet is next to zero glucose. 🤷🏻‍♀️   Just something to consider when so much of the wellness space saves a tree but burns up the forest.   — 📺 Full interview on YouTube. https://youtu.be/5uyXao8x3_s   🎙Full interview on podcast: https://nutritionwithjudy.buzzsprout.com/1848795/11927809-210-metabolic-therapy-for-cancer-patients-thomas-seyfried...

Microblog: Best Way to Protect Ourselves from Cancer

Watch the clip here.   Watch the full interview here.   Best way to protect ourselves from cancer?   Minimize sugars and raise ketones.   Because cancer cells can’t use ketones (but the rest of the body can for energy).   It can’t be this simple?? And against cancer?   This seems too simple that it must be a lie?! (Or we’ve been lied to for this long with chemo— a billion dollar industry).   I’ll take my chances and cut carbs. (Remember, glucose and fructose can convert to one another via the polyol pathway.)   No amount of sugar, fruits, honey, and carbs is worth the risk of (preventable?!) cancer.   PMID: 34564387   — 📺 Full interview on YouTube. https://youtu.be/5uyXao8x3_s   🎙Full interview on podcast: https://nutritionwithjudy.buzzsprout.com/1848795/11927809-210-metabolic-therapy-for-cancer-patients-thomas-seyfried...

Microblog: The Cause of Cancer

Watch the clip here.   Watch the full interview here.   It’s pervasive everywhere— dogma and the desire to maintain status quo.   We are starting to understand this with the need for saturated fats and animals proteins.   The same can be said for cancer.   What if chemo and radiation aren’t the best options for cancer?   If cancers primarily live off glucose, what happens if we remove glucose from the diet. (sugars can typically convert from one sugar to another via the polyol pathway. Fructose isn’t safe either)   Maybe we change our diet and see if we can let the body heal. It may not work for everyone but it can help so many.   — 📺 Full interview on YouTube. https://youtu.be/5uyXao8x3_s   🎙Full interview on podcast: https://nutritionwithjudy.buzzsprout.com/1848795/11927809-210-metabolic-therapy-for-cancer-patients-thomas-seyfried...

Microblog: Metabolic Therapy for Cancer

Watch the clip here.   Watch the full interview here.   Most cancers thrive on glucose (and glutamine).   In fact, in my interview with Dr. Thomas Seyfried, he says there is no know cancer that lives off ketones or fatty acids.   ⚠️He also explains that cancer is not a genetic disease.   💸So if we KNOW that cancer cells live off glucose, why not try CUTTING OUT ALL GLUCOSE (from the diet)?   ⁉️Why do we use very invasive therapies such as chemo or radiation if there are lifestyle interventions?   🥩Carnivore without carbs—does a body good.   💡Give the right fuel and the body is an incredible healing machine.   PMID: 34564387   — 📺 Full interview on YouTube. https://youtu.be/5uyXao8x3_s   🎙Full interview on podcast: https://nutritionwithjudy.buzzsprout.com/1848795/11927809-210-metabolic-therapy-for-cancer-patients-thomas-seyfried...

Microblog: Why Sugar Substitutes Don’t Help Poor Food Relationships

Watch the clip here.   Watch the full interview here.   If you struggle with food addiction, sugar substitutes may not help you heal long term.   💔When I was first healing, a Diet Coke would set me off for a binge cycle. I quickly learned that I needed to stop all sweet profile flavors for a while.   ❤️‍🩹Fast forward over 5 years, with a lot of meat and healing, now I can tolerate some sweet or sweeteners without going over the edge.   💡It took time to get here and most days I still choose meat-only. If you struggle with a poor relationship with food— and always turning to food for every emotion, the sweetener may be a bad crutch that’s not allowing you to fully heal.   🍭For me these sweeteners on good days helped me...
