MARCoNS (Multiple Antibiotic Resistant Coagulase Negative Staphylococci) is an antibiotic-resistant form of staph infection in the nasal cavity that has become resistant to antibiotics.

MARCoNS can lead to an infection, overgrowth, and chronic health issues, including symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), fibromyalgia, multiple chemical sensitivity, chronic Lyme disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), lupus, and other autoimmune conditions. MARCoNS may also play a role in Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS).

CIRS Treatment requires MARCoNS testing as Low MSH levels can cause high susceptibility to MARCoNS.

Symptoms of MARCoNS may be similar to various chronic health issues, including fibromyalgia and autoimmune problems. Symptoms of MARCoNS may include:

• Brain fog
• Cough
• Difficulty focusing and concentrating
• Facial and/or sinus pain
• Fatigue
• Headaches or migraines
• Joint pain

Note: You do not need to suffer from these symptoms to test positive for MARCoNS.

MARCoNS and Mold Culture with Identification:

Microbiology DX performs Nares Cultures for gram positive bacteria such as MARCoNS as well as other gram positive bacteria and gram negative bacteria.  This includes identification and antibiotic susceptibility testing when warranted.  The same swab can be cultured for fungi including mold and yeast with identification.

This test is only for the Nares Bacterial culture.
